Meet Teddy

Hi! I’m Teddy a goofy, sweet and friendly pup!  I am a 2 year old puppy (DOB 6/19/2022) who is affectionate, energetic, and eager to please. Although I am 2, I still have so much puppy charm, energy, and mischief. I am 60 pounds and on the thin side, so my goal weight is 70lbs.

I was surrendered to AGN because my loving family did not have time or experience to meet the needs of a young and active dog. I’m having a great time with my foster family, and now it’s time for me to start the next chapter of my life with my forever family.

Attributes

Personality Traits

I’m so affectionate, curious and friendly. I have several bouts of playful energy through the day and evening and am at risk of being mischievous if I don’t get enough direction, structure, playtime and walks. I am mostly untrained, so I need lots of direction. I am easily redirected and very eager to please. I would benefit greatly from basic training with an AGN approved trainer.

Status with People

I am friendly with everyone I meet. I LOVE meeting new people and I may initially jump up initially but respond well to positive corrections. In my last home, there was a toddler and I was well behaved with her.  In my foster home, there is a toddler that visits regularly, and I am gentle and well behaved around her.

Status with Dogs

I have three furry dog buddies in my foster home, and I get along great with them all.  I am confident but not dominant, I am a get along and go along dog. On leash in public, I get so excited to see other dogs that I bark loudly and pull to try and go see them. This can scare other dogs, but it does not mean I am unfriendly. I need someone caring (and strong) to teach me better leash manners.

Status with Cats

Unknown.

Favorite Toys

Toys seem to be a new concept for me, so I didn’t know what to do with them initially.  With the consistent encouragement from my foster mom, I am starting to enjoy them, especially chew bones. Bones are a great activity for me when the other dogs are sleeping and I am not ready to nap. I enjoy Benebones and Nylabones.

Energy Level

Active and energetic, medium energy. I love to run, romp, and play in my yard and inside the house. I get a lot of exercise and go for walks at least 3 times a day (2-3 miles total). I’m sniffing, exploring and playing most of the time I am outside. I still have playful puppy energy, but I calm down nicely after exercise and playtime.

House Trained

I am perfectly housetrained and have not had any accidents or made any messes. I don’t counter surf or get into anything, though my foster home is VERY well puppy proofed.

Crate Trained

I do not need to be crated, I am very well behaved when you leave, assuming I am getting adequate attention and exercise.  I am seeking a home where a crate is not required, so I hope to find a very well puppy-proofed home with baby gates to limit my access to anything I might get into that I shouldn’t.

House Manners

I have good house manners, but MAJOR puppy-proofing is still a MUST. I sleep on a dog bed in my foster family’s bedroom.  Once, I did chew on a bathroom rug for a few minutes and luckily my foster mom noticed and offered me a chew bone, which was a great choice for me!

Leash Manners

Nobody ever taught me to walk nicely on a leash So I still pull the leash hard, especially when I see another dog, as I get so excited to meet them and play.  I really need somebody strong in the household who can handle me and teach me better leash manners. I will come with a “Walk Your Dog with Love” harness so you can more easily and humanely walk me. The more I am exposed to leashed walking, the better I will become.

Exercise

I am an active pup so I must get daily exercise and playtime… walking, hiking, swimming, etc. I love playing with other dogs and would benefit from having a dog brother or sister to help spend my energy.

Car Rides

I love to ride in the car and behave nicely while riding.  Learning to get into and out of your particular car will take time, kindness and patience.

Basic Commands

In my first home, I learned all commands in Spanish, so now I am learning the English equivalents: Come, Sit, Down, and Stay

Things I need in my Forever Home

  • An adopter who has the patience and energy for a young and energetic dog that is mostly puppy. I require above average attention and effort, but will be well worth it, I am such a sweetheart!
  • An adopter who is not gone long hours. I don’t want to be left alone for more than 4-5 hours at a time.
  • Active person or family that likes to exercise daily by taking walks, spending time with me in a fenced yard and bringing me along on other outdoor adventures. I need mental challenges and stimulation, in addition to physical exercise.
  • I MUST have another dog to play with in my new home.
  • Someone who will continue to socialize me appropriately with people and other dogs on daily walks and outings.
  • Professional training is HIGHLY recommended, as it would build our bond and be so much fun! I need the sort of training we do together, using an AGN approved trainer, not training where you send me away.
  • GPS Collar – while I am not a huge flight risk, I still need a GPS collar so you can find me in case I get lost. The cost of this is an additional $99 over the adoption fee and includes the collar and 13 months of GPS coverage.

If you are patient, understanding and ready to take on a big puppy who is mostly untrained but is highly trainable and eager to please, then I am your guy! I am an affectionate and playful pup who is cheerful, friendly, and goofy. I really need someone who is active and is eager to give me attention regularly throughout the day and evening, through playtime, leashed walks, and the practice of positive obedience. I am overflowing with unconditional love just waiting for YOU!  I can’t wait to start our new life together!

Luv, Teddy
