Meet Moe
Hi, I’m Moe. I’m an almost 1 year old Golden Retriever. DOB: 4/20/24. I weigh 65 pounds
I was surrendered to AGN because my family had a baby and didn’t have time to meet the needs of an active older puppy between the demands of a newborn and their jobs. My foster family adores me, but I’m ready to be someone’s best buddy and “snuggle bug” in my forever home!

Status with People
- Sweet and very friendly with all people – just give me a moment to know you as I’m a little shy at first
- Super loving and snuggly with my humans –
- Nervous around children and their fast movements – will retreat for comfort from my foster mom

Favorite Toys
- LOVE toys and have one with me the majority of the time – even sleep with my favorite stuffies!
- Stuffies are my favorite and a source of comfort so I MUST have LOTS of stuffies!
- Also enjoy rope toys, squeaky toys, tug toys…If it’s a toy, it’s my friend!
- Like to play ball so get your throwing arm warmed up
- Enjoy “shopping” in the toy basket

Energy Level
- High energy older puppy that needs LOTS of physical exercise, mental stimulation and canine enrichment – lots of walks, hiking, swimming, playing with my dog buddies, etc.
- Settle down nicely to snuggle when tired

House Trained
Yes – I go to the back door and sit
***AGN recommends that you train my to Poochie Bells so I can provide clear communication when I need to go out.

Crate Trained
Supposedly yes, but I’m not a fan in my foster home and it makes me a bit panicky if left alone in it when you leave

House Manners
- Really good manners for an older puppy, but puppy proof as I don’t know the difference in your stuff verses mine
- Will counter surf if given the opportunity – It’s your responsibility to make sure there are no temptations on the counters.
- Love lounging and snuggling on the couch, chairs and bed – so, if you don’t want a Golden on your furniture…I’m not your Golden!
- Typically sleep in my dog bed by my foster parents’ bed, but occasionally jump in the bed – I sleep with my stuffies and a blanket on my bed (I know…it’s so sweet!)

Leash Manners
Good on leash with my Walk Your Dog With Love harness and love to walk and sniff – Let me sniff as it’s great mental stimulation

Exercise
- Must have LOTS of physical exercise – walks, jogging, hiking, dog sports such as agility, etc.
- Love my walks and get about 20,000 to 35,000 steps per day! Get 2-3 walks per day at about 1.5 miles each – Get excited to put on my Walk Your Dog With Love harness and go
- Must also have LOTS of mental stimulation and canine enrichment to exercise my brain – Nose works, ACE free works, dog puzzles, snuffle mats, lick mats, Bobs – A-Lot, frozen peanut butter Kongs,Topples and just sniffing and exploring new places
- Must have LOTS of playtime with my dog companion and dog friends to meet my social and exercise needs – I enjoy the dog park to run, chase and play with other dogs

Car Rides
Good in the car and love to go – I might even take a nap

Basic Commands
Sit, Down (Lie Down), Shake, Come. Working on Off and Wait.

Miscellaneous
I have mild separation anxiety that I’ll likely overcome in time once I get settled in my forever home. I’m not a fan of being separated from my humans and crating me makes it worse. Once I learn that you’re always coming back, I’ll feel safe and secure. For now, my world’s been turned upside down and I need the comfort and security of my humans, along with a structured routine.

Things I need in my Forever Home
- Active family that likes to exercise daily…lots of walks, hikes, swimming, chasing balls in the yard, and fun outdoor adventures. I need a family that loves exercise and fun outdoor activities and wants a doggy companion by their side.
- Someone who’s home more often than not…someone who works from home, doesn’t work or works part time. My foster family works from home so I’m used to my family being home with me and my furry siblings. I thrive in this environment because I’m young, active, crave human interaction and need someone with the time to commit to my exercise and force free/positive reinforcement training.
- Positive reinforcement obedience training classes REQUIRED. This will help us bond and build our relationship. It’s so much fun and my potential should be maximized. I’ve taken interest in Agility so those would be fun classes, too. ***AGN recommends DogsandKat.com
- Need a nice, active dog to run and play with…one who’ll share toys and snuggle with me. I’m an older puppy with lots of energy so my dog companion should be able to match that energy. I love to play and thrive with a dog companion. Any dog should be neutral in temperament as I would not do well with a dog that wanted to bully me or was overly confident.
- Children should be older as the sudden movements of young children make me nervous. They should be sturdy on their feet (since I’m still jumpy in excitement) and know how to respect the boundaries of a dog. If children in the home, I need to be the dog that goes to the ball park, to pick up the kids at school, etc….a major part of the family and not left home during the kid’s activities!
If you’re looking for a great temperament older puppy (an everything that comes with it), I’m one AWESOME pup! My life has been a little sheltered so I’m looking for a family that will keep introducing me to new things and places. I’ve got so much potential and need someone who will maximize that. So, if you’re active, ready for a “snuggle bug” and have endless stuffy toys for me to play with…you’ll hit the jackpot with me!
