Meet Juno

I’m Juno! I’m a 5 year old English Cream Golden Retriever. DOB: 1/1/19. I’m a gentle giant right now who’s too “fluffy” at approximately 100 pounds. There’s a lot of me to love, but I’m working on losing some weight, so put on your walking shoes and let’s go! Yes, I know I’m gorgeous!

I was surrendered to AGN because my family did not have time for me. I was being left alone for long hours daily and even months at a time with only a sitter checking on me. My family traveled a lot and wanted better for me. I’m thriving in my foster home. I’m ready to start the next chapter of my life with my forever family.  Could you be my special someone?

Attributes

Personality Traits

Loving sweetheart who’s happy, playful, and likes to be the center of your attention. I’m a “velcro shadow” who craves affection and cherishes your love. I enjoy the outdoors with my humans and furry foster brother…running and playing, but I’m easy going overall.  Friendly and polite with everyone I meet.  Always happy to make new friends. Love to carry around my stuffy “baby”. I’m a beautiful Golden inside and out!

Status with People

Good with all people.  Friendly with strangers.  Love getting lots of pets when on my daily walks. Good with children and lived with children in my previous home.

Status with Dogs

Good with other dogs. I have one Golden foster brother who I follow around and learn from. I like to be close to him…playing, running in the yard, walking, and lying close to nap or hang out. I enjoy the companionship of a gentle dog buddy. I’m neutral in temperament.  I should not be with a dog that will bully me.

Status with Cats

Unknown, but I’m all about a good critter chase.

Favorite Toys

Stuffy “babies”! I love to carry my “baby” around, especially when I’m happy or excited. I might even grab your shoe if it’s close, but I don’t tear it up. I just happily show it to you. I have minimal interest in the ball right now, but this may increase in time if you work with me. Things such as Himalayan chews, Earth Animal rice chews, etc. are good for me to chew on.

Energy Level

Moderate energy overall.

House Trained

Yes.  I signal by going to the door that I need to go potty. **AGN recommends training to “poochie bells” so I can give clear communication that you can hear when I need to potty.

Crate Trained

I do not need a crate. I have free roam in the house and do great.

House Manners

Perfect gentleman! Excellent manners in the house and not destructive in any way. I’ve never been taught to get on furniture, but I bet you could convince me to come up and snuggle. I sleep on my orthopedic dog bed or on the floor in the master bedroom with my foster family.

Leash Manners

Good on leash with my Walk Your Dog With Love Harness.

Exercise

LOVE my daily walks. I walk every day with my foster mom and Golden foster brother. We walk 35-45 minutes and cover about 1.5 miles. I need someone fully committed to my walking.  I’d also likely enjoy hiking.

Car Rides

Cars are scary, but I’m learning! My previous family never took me in the car so I never got the chance to learn how fun it is. Foster mom now takes me and my Golden foster brother on “joy rides” almost every day. Right now, my foster mom has a process to encourage me to jump into the floor board first and then to the backseat.  Once in, I do pretty good.  My desire to be with you outweighs my fear of getting in the car. The good news…I don’t get motion sick. I just need practice. Put some very high value treats in the backseat for me to find every time.  Take me fun places such as a park to walk, trails to hike or to get a “pup cup”.  This is going to take time, practice and a commitment to helping me associate the car with positive things. I’m making great progress already!

Basic Commands

“Sit”, “Stay/Wait”, “Come”.  The secret to recall is extreme happiness, praise and treats when I come to you. ** I know my name very well and AGN asks that you do NOT change it as it will be confusing to me and disrupt my transition to a new home.

Storm Phobia

Storms, sudden loud noises and fireworks are scary! I lie down and “cry” a bit. It’s quite heartbreaking. I don’t pant, pace or seek a sheltered spot…I just whine. Please comfort me during these times. I want to be close to you to feel safe. If we’re walking I might get spooked and try to run, so make sure I’m secure on leash at all times.

Things I need in my Forever Home

  • Moderately active family that likes to engage in daily exercise such as strolls through the neighborhood and park, leisurely hikes through the trails, etc. I need someone committed to my daily walking.
  • Someone who is home more often than not. Someone who doesn’t work, works from home or works part time. I thrive with human companionship and need it for my well-being. I’ve been left alone my entire life for very long hours (and even months at a time), so it’s time for me to have the attention I deserve.
  • I’d be good as an only dog as long as you’re my true best friend spending most of your time with me. I need a lot of human companionship.
  • Preferable is a dog companion who is about my age, gentle, neutral in temperament, and willing to share toys. Either gender is fine. It should not be a young dog that pounces on me. I’d do best with a nice, gentle furry friend who’ll play and hang out with me.
  • Older children are fine as I grew up with children in my previous home. Just remember my size so if I step on tiny toes it could hurt.

There’s a whole new life ahead for me filled with love, fun and happiness. So, if you’re looking for a sweet, vibrant Golden to share your life with…one who just wants to be loved and cherished, I’m your Golden!  I’ll light up your world with joy and happiness!  I’m ready to be your best friend and ultimate companion as we take on life together.

Luv, Juno
