Meet Jasmine
Hi, I’m Jasmine, but my friends call me Jazzy. Get ready to fall in love! I’m a 6 year old, female Golden Retriever. My DOB is 5/28/18. I weigh approximately 72 pounds.
I’m being surrendered to AGN after originally being adopted in 2021. I’ve lived the most wonderful life with my family, human and furry, but my human brother is moving back home from college and is allergic to dogs, so my family has asked AGN to find me a new family who’ll love me forever. That should be easy as I’m such a lovable dolly baby!
Attributes

Personality Traits
Super sweet, endearing girl who craves affection from my humans (all humans) and loves playing with other dogs. I’m a smart, sassy, playful, and food motivated “velcro shadow” who’s always at your feet or snuggling with you on the couch…where you go, I go! If I can’t go, then I’ll be ready to greet you with happiness the moment you walk in the door. I might even break out in a little “dance” or roll over and kick my paws in air until you make a fuss over how adorable I am. Friendly to everyone and always excited to make new friends. I’m a truly a darling girl…Miss Personality Plus!

Status with People
Social butterfly who’s good with all people and children. I love people and I’m always excited to meet new friends. I’m jumpy in joyful excitement so children should be older and sturdy on their feet…this goes for the elderly as well. The best thing to do is turn your back when I jump and praise me when four paws are on the floor. **Remember that my excitement is happiness to see you and that should not be punished, but redirected with praise.

Status with Dogs
Good with other dogs. I crave their companionship and enjoy playing with them. I have a 9 year old Golden foster brother and we enjoy out playtime and wrestling matches. I’m typically the one to initiate play. I love to wrestle and play tug with my dog friends. I share toys and food very nicely with my Golden brother, but once gave a little lip “growl” to say “no, this is mine!” when he tried to take my high value chew bone away from me…Not nice big brother!

Status with Cats
Curious about cats and want to play with them. Never shown aggression toward any cat encountered on walks or the cat who lived in my home for 6 months. My nature is always curious and playful.

Favorite Toys
Love toys! Like to play with my squeaky toys, stuffy toys, tug/rope toys and balls. My favorites are “food themed” squeaky/stuffy toys (I’m a girl who loves food!) I love to chase the ball or even the dog chasing the ball, but not the best at bringing it back.

Energy Level
Moderate energy overall, with times of lower energy where I’m chilled out and relaxed and bursts of higher, playful energy when playing with my Golden brother.

House Trained
Yes. I will stare or paw to get your attention to let you know I need to go out. You can say “Go Out?” and I’ll know you get my message.

Crate Trained
No and no need! I have free roam in the house and don’t bother anything. I sleep on my orthopedic dog bed , couch or area rug in my foster parents room at night.

House Manners
Excellent manners in the house and not destructive in any way. I do not sleep in the bed with my family, but I do snuggle up with them on the couch. If you don’t want a dog on your couch, I’m not the Golden for you! I do have a confession…I’m your typical doggy “begger” who’s super food motivated, so yes…I beg for food. I’m in your face about food and might even snatch your sandwich if given the opportunity. **A good suggestion is to give me a lick mat or frozen Kong while you’re eating. You can use a portion of my dog food or there are recipes to use.

Leash Manners
Excellent on leash with my Walk Your Dog With Love Harness. I’m a great walker and always ready to go for my daily walks.

Exercise
Exercise is important for me! I get a walk every single day (except stormy weather) of about 2 miles. I’d also love to go on hikes as I enjoy family outings in nature. Let me sniff as it provides wonderful mental stimulation. On top of my daily walks and fun outings, I play with my Golden brother throughout the day.

Car Rides
Love to ride in the car! I even enjoy a good ride in the Jeep to go on nature trail adventures! If you’re looking for road trip companion, I’m your girl!

Basic Commands
Come, sit, down (lie down), stay, no, walk, go out. **I know my name and it’s been my name since I was a puppy so please do NOT change it at 6 years old. That’s not fair to me as it’s part of my identity!!!

Storm Phobia
Storms are scary! I’m anxious during storms. I pace and pant, and need to be near my family for comfort. I’m not destructive. I don’t even bark or act out in any way. I’m just anxious and need the love and security of my humans to comfort me. It’s important to make sure I potty during storm breaks as I’ve been so scared occasionally that I would not potty in the storms and had an accident…not my fault, just fear!

Things I need in my Forever Home
- Moderately active family committed to daily exercise such as strolls through the neighborhood, walks at the park, hikes through the trails, etc.
- Someone who’s home more often than not. I’m used to someone in my family being home most of the time. I’d be great in a non-working home, work from home or work part time household.
- I’d highly prefer a nice dog friend who’s neutral in temperament and likes to play. I love the companionship and playing with other dogs. If an only dog I would need dog friends to play with on a regular basis, but a dog companion in the home is ideal.
- Since I’m jumpy in excitement, children should be older and sturdy on their feet. No elderly living in the home as I could easily knock them down by accident. **AGN recommends the “No Jumping Class” with dogsandkat.com for force free training on redirecting jumping**
I want and deserve a true forever family, someone who considers me THEIR forever family and will never let me go, no matter what! I’m such a precious girl, but I want to be home…truly home! I want someone to love me as much as I love them. I don’t ask for much…just your love, kindness, devotion…and your forever commitment!
