Status with People

I’m happy and love everyone I meet, I’m great with children and have lived with them my entire life so I would love to have them in my forever home.  Just remember, I could easily knock tiny humans down as I’m bouncy and strong. I should NOT be walked by children at this time.

Status with Dogs

I lived as an only dog in my previous home so it took me a minute to warm up to my furry foster siblings.  There are three big ones and now I love them. My best buddy is my young Golden foster sister as we play a lot. I’m neutral  temperament in the dog “pack” and get along with all dogs in the home. I love to run, romp, play and snuggle with my dog buddies.  I have no concept of personal space so might use one as a pillow.

Favorite Toys

A I have a confession…I LOVE stuffy toys, but I’m a ‘stuffy murderer” so I must have stuffy toys without stuffing for tough chewers or be ready to get the stuffing up before I eat it. Brands recommended for me are Go Dog, HuggIe Hound, Kong, Tuff for stuffies. I love chew bones such as Benebones, Himalayan chews. I’ll happily chase a ball, but might “forget” to bring it back 🙂

Energy Level

High mostly to Moderate. Although an older puppy who plays, runs and romps a lot with the other dogs and children in my home, I’ll settle down nicely and snuggle up with you when I’ve gotten my energy out. I get A LOT of exercise, and constant playtime with my young siblings. Without this high level of exercise and playtime, my energy level will increase.

House Trained

Yes and may whine a little to signal, but I go out every two to three hours on a regular schedule as my foster family works from home.

Crate Trained

Yes, I actually choose to sleep in my crate at night.  I have free roam of the house during the day. I have free roam with the other dogs in the home if my foster family leaves, but they are never gone long.

House Manners

Good for a puppy, but you must PUPPY PROOF!!! I’m not destructive, other than my stuffies.

Leash Manners

Total work in progress so you much be patient, consistent with lots of praise and positive guidance. I’m strong and I pull, so I’m not for a child to walk or anyone who could be easily pulled down.  My “Walk Your Dog With Love” harness is critical so I learn how to walk nicely.  I need both physical and mental stimulation so allowing me to sniff on my casual walks is important.

Exercise

Put on your tennis shoes and let’s go as I need the leash walking practice!!! Walks, jogging, hiking, swimming and fun adventures are all good for me. Just remember that a tired puppy is a good puppy. I’m an active, older puppy so must get significant daily exercise and playtime. Running and playing with other dogs is helpful to meet my social and exercise needs.

Car Rides

I ride well in the car.  I whine a little and then typically lie down.

Basic Commands

Sit, Come. I know my name “Gracie” well so please keep it as it will set back my confidence level to change it.

Things I need in my Forever Home

• Someone who wants and understands an energetic, older puppy and all the fun, time, and commitment that comes with it. I’m a really good pup!
• Active family that likes to exercise daily by taking lots of power walks/runs, hikes, swimming and fun outdoor adventures. I need a family that loves exercise and fun outdoor activities and wants a doggy companion by their side
• Someone who doesn’t work, works from home or works part time as I’m used to my family and previous family being home with me and my furry siblings. I thrive in this environment because I’m young, active and need someone with the time to commit to my exercise, mental stimulation and training

• I need a dog companion in my home that will run, wrestle and play with me, share toys and snuggle. I’ve learned a lot from my dog companions and really thrive with them.
• I adore children and would love them in my home. Children should be sturdy on their feet and know how to respect the boundaries of a dog, but I’m good with all ages of children.
• I’m used to a large backyard to run and romp with my furry foster siblings so I need space to run and play with my dog friends, chase a ball, etc.
