Meet Ginny and Charlie

Ginny and Charlie are a bonded pair. We will NOT separate.

What’s better than ONE Golden…TWO AMAZING GOLDENS WHO ARE AS PERFECT AS IT GETS!!! Please meet the sweet and stunning duo, Ginny and Charlie. Both are 9 years young. Although not littermates, they’re only 3 months apart and have been together all their lives. They came from the same breeder. This bonded pair will steal your heart with one look from their sweet, soulful eyes.

Ginny and Charlie were surrendered to AGN when their elderly owner had to go into a nursing home. Her family knew that AGN would find them a wonderful family to love them forever. Could you be that special someone?

Ginny and Charlie are SWEET SWEET SWEET!!! They’re happy dogs who enjoy life, love their humans and cherish each other. Both dogs are easy going, well-mannered, and sweet-natured. They ‘re emotionally intuitive with those around them. Ginny and Charlie will happily seek out attention and affection, but are also content to relax and nap close to you.

Ginny and Charlie are perfect together, balancing each other out. They’re like two pieces of a puzzle that fit perfectly together. These precious Goldens have beautiful temperaments. Ginny and Charlie likely have the potential to be Pet Therapy Dogs to go into hospitals, nursing homes, READ program for children, etc. to bring love and joy! They are that incredible!

Attributes

Personality Traits

Ginny:

  • DOB: 5/16/16 – Female Golden Retriever – approx 75 lbs (and needs to lose a bit of her “floof”)
  • Sweet, snuggly, loving, playful, gentle, easy going, perfect balance of a little independence and total love bug who cherishes affection
  • Peaceful presence with a gentle soul who thrives on closeness and companionship
  • “Couch Cuddler” Award – Loves curling up next to you on the couch to snuggle and being close when she wants affection
  • Enjoys walks, exploring the yard. One of her favorite activities is sitting on the front porch with her foster mom in the mornings…quietly watching the neighborhood dogs go by with their owners. She doesn’t bark or get worked up. She simply observes with relaxed curiosity. It’s the ultimate level of calm and contentment… interested, but completely unbothered
  • Sleeps either in the bed with her humans or on a dog bed or couch in the master bedroom
  • Loves stuffy toys to play with, carry, or snuggle with. Also consider chew bones such as Himalayan chews, frozen peanut butter Kongs, lick mats, etc. Not a ball dog, but enjoys watching her “brother” play ball

Charlie:

  • DOB: 8/29/16 – Male Golden Retriever – approx 80 lbs (and needs to lose a bit of his “floof”)
  • “Lives to Play Ball” Award! This sweetheart will play fetch as long as you’ll throw the ball. He has a ball proudly in his mouth most of the time just in case you want to toss it. If not, he’ll just happily carry it
  • Playful, fun, ball-loving, laid-back, sweet, loving, gentle, perfect balance of a little independence and total love bug who cherishes affection
  • Happy! Happy! Happy! Brings a quiet joy and easy-going energy into every space
  • Lover of sunshine – He enjoys sitting out on the deck with you just soaking in the sun
  • Sleeps on a dog bed next to the human’s bed or moves to the floor if he gets hot
  • LOVES BALLS!!! His forever family should have balls galore for him with a good throwing arm/Chuck It. He’ll choose a ball typically over anything else. Also consider chew bones such as Himalayan chews, frozen peanut butter Kongs, lick mats, etc.

Life with Ginny and Charlie

  • Ginny and Charlie are a dream pair to live with! No one is perfect, but they pretty much are!
  • Love everyone – Always friendly, happy and curious to meet new friends
Good with children – Loving and gentle, but not a playmate for children
Good with dogs – Although a bonded pair, social, playful and neutral with other dogs without resource guarding
  • Uninterested in cats or critters – No history of living with cats, but non-reactive when passing them on the street and no prey drive
  • House trained – Yes. Ginny and Charlie go out often on a regular schedule to potty. If they need to potty otherwise, they’ll stare, grunt, back up and head to the door until you take them to potty. If they still don’t have your attention, you may get a bark
  • NO CRATE needed as they have free roam of the home without issue
  • Excellent house manners and not destructive
  • Quiet and relaxed, only barking if someone comes to the door
  • Love daily walks, gentle hikes, exploring the backyard, and playing with their dog friends
  • Excellent on walks with their Walk Your Dog With Love harnesses
  • Good in the car – Ride calmly. Charlie will need assistance getting in. Consider training him to steps/ramp if you cannot be his “human elevator”
  • They know their names perfectly, so AGN requests you do NOT change it!!! They’ve had their names for their entire lives! Each knows their name and they know who each other are. VERY IMPORTANT!!!

Health and Care

Ginny and Charlie have presented as happy and healthy overall. They take Dasuquin to support joint health and Nordic Naturals, an Omega supplement with their food. They need gentle physical exercise, mental stimulation and enrichment activities to maintain their physical and mental health as they age.

Charlie has arthritis, but it doesn’t stop him from playing fetch. He will not limit himself, so it’s up to you to do so. His supplements are important for him. He may need an anti-inflammatory in the future.

Both Ginny and Charlie need to lose a few pounds and have daily gentle exercise. Getting seniors to their ideal weight can be critical in their mobility. A body in motion stays in motion!

Things We Need In Our Forever Home

  • Someone experienced with having two large dogs in the home who are bonded and understand their needs and dynamics. They’re like a little married couple who complete each other. They’re emotionally stable separately, but have been together their entire lives
  • Someone who values time and companionship with their Goldens. Someone who enjoys the simple things in life with their dogs by their side. Reading a good book on the sunny deck, taking a gentle nature hike, cozy couches to snuggle on, comfy dog beds, stuffies for Ginny and endless balls for Charlie to fetch
  • Moderate to low activity household. Someone committed to maximizing their health as they age…commitment to supplements, gentle daily exercise, minimal stairs, rugs/carpet, etc.
  • Ginny and Charlie do best in an environment with lots of human interaction. They need someone who focuses on companionship with them. They need someone who’s home more often than not, but they’re fine when left together for several hours to nap. Someone who doesn’t work, works part time or works from home is ideal. In a working home, they’d need someone who’s not gone long hours, could come home at lunch, and would spend most of their time with them before and after work
  • Children should be sturdy on their feet as they are big Goldens and could accidently knock tiny humans down. They’re gentle dogs, but children should know how to respect the boundaries of a dog, especially aging dogs
  • Orthopedic dogs beds are a must
  • Charlie must have BALLS BALLS BALLS and Ginny must have STUFFIES
  • Someone must enjoy Goldens lounging on their couches. And Ginny likes brief bedtime snuggles on the bed. If you don’t want dogs on your furniture…Ginny and Charlie are NOT for you!
  • Senior dog friendly home that appreciates the needs of a bonded senior pair
  • Someone who is physically able to handle their size – getting Charlie in the car with a boost, daily walking of two large Goldens, etc.

Double the love! Ginny and Charlie don’t ask for much… kindness, affection, time and gentle fun! They’ll give you companionship, joy, unconditional love and the rare magic that comes with adopting a senior pair of Goldens. To be with Ginny and Charlie makes your life more joyful each day! So, if you love the pitter patter of eight paws following you around, and you have lots of stuffies and balls to share…don’t let the love of these precious pups pass you by. Two hearts..one forever home…together forever!

      Luv, Ginny and Charlie
