Meet Dallas
Playful and energetic pup seeking an active and fun family with another playful, energetic pup! Are you looking for a sweet, loving, energetic, goofy Golden who likes to proudly carry things in his mouth and is also a bit puppy mischievous? Hi, I’m the “always on the move”, happy and handsome Dallas. I’ll be 2 years old soon (DOB: 12/6/21) and weigh 61 pounds.
I was surrendered to AGN because my military family was deploying. They loved me and wanted the best for me.
Attributes

Personality Traits
I’m a sweetheart of a pup who’s loving, enjoys affection, energetic , always looking to play with my dog friends and constantly “busy”. Unless you’re petting me (which I LOVE and will let you do for hours!), I’m typically on the move to do something fun. I love toys and carrying anything in my mouth…including things I shouldn’t, so PUPPY PROOF! My favorite mischievous trick is to remove rolls of toilet paper from the holder if the bathroom door is left open. I’m quick to engage with other dogs, try very hard to get them to play with me, and love wrestling and playing tug of war with them.

Status with People
I have a little “stranger danger” until I know you’re a nice person, and then I’m fine. I like all people and children. I lived with an 8 year old child in my previous home.

Status with Dogs
I’m good with other dogs and love to play and wrestle. I have 3 Golden foster siblings, two males and a female. I initiate play with all of them and will play with whomever is ready. We play non-stop sometimes and love a game of tug-of-war. I share anything I have willingly with my dog friends…toys, etc. and assume they will do the same. I went to the dog park often in my previous home. Neutral in temperament. No resource guarding.

Status with Cats
I’m fine with cats and attempted to play with them in my previous home. I lived with a cat in my previous home and foster home.

Favorite Toys
All of them, especially stuffy toys! Bones, ropes, squeaky toys, balls, frisbees…I’ll play with anything and love to carry it around in my mouth. I’ll retrieve a bal or frisbee, but haven’t learned to give it to you yet. Maybe you could teach me with “trade for a treat”? My FAVORITE toys in my previous home were my stuffy toys. but we can’t have many in my foster home because one of my furry foster siblings destroys them. I really look forward to having LOTS of stuffy toys in my forever home.

Energy Level
I’m high energy, and it takes a lot for me to just settle and relax. Like I said, I’m always on the move. Now if you pet me, I’ll be still for hours, but other times I’m playing or “busy” in some way. I’m young and active so put on your tennis shoes and let’s have some fun! I need a lot of physical exercise, mental stimulation and enrichment games, along with a high energy dog buddy to play with. I’d be a great running oh hiking companion. I could also dog sports.

House Trained
Yes I am now, but was not when I came to AGN. You have to pay attention because I touch the door know with my nose when I need to go out.
***AGN HIGHLY RECOMMENDS THAT YOU TRAIN ME TO POOCHIE BELLS SO I GIVE YOU CLEAR COMMUNICATION THAT YOU CAN HEAR THAT I NEED TO POTTY***

Crate Trained
Yes, but hope to work out of it in the future. I go in when you say “Let’s Go To Our Room”. Right now, I’m still very puppy-ish, so I go in my crate when my family is not home or I cannot be appropriately supervised.

House Manners
If you’re home is not as puppy proofed as is gets, then I’m NOT the Golden for you. I’m NOT destructive, but I’m like a small puppy in an almost two year old body. I’m “puppy mischievous” and my house manners are a work in progress. I look for things to carry around in my mouth. I’ll pick up coasters from dining tables, grab bottles from bathroom counters, remove toilet paper rolls from holders, get in bathroom trash cans. Anything that looks like I can carry it around, I’ll attempt to pick up and proudly carry it. For me not to do this you basically have to remove everything that I can put in my mouth, just like with a small puppy, except I’m in a much bigger body so height must be considered. This will improve as I learn, get out of the older puppy stage, get lots of exercise and mental stimulation.

Leash Manners
Typical for my age. I pull some, so my Walk Your Dog With Love harness is key.

Exercise
MUST HAVE A LOT OF DAILY EXERCISE AND MENTAL STIMULATION. I’m energetic and active so must get significant daily exercise and playtime. I get daily walks and play constantly with my dog friends. I would be a great running or hiking companion. I would do great with agility, fly ball…any kind of dog sports.

Car Rides
I’m learning the car and need to associate it with fun and positive things. A few trips to Starbucks for a puppuccino is a good start!

Things I need in my Forever Home
- Active family that takes exercise seriously and wants a dog companion by their side. Someone who exercises daily by taking lots of power walks (at least 3-4 miles)/runs, hikes, swimming and fun outdoor adventures. I’d be a great running partner, hiking companion, agility, fly ball, etc. If you only walk 2-3 miles a day at a leisurely pace, I’m too much of an energetic pup for you. I need a family that loves exercise and fun outdoor activities.
- Experienced dog owner with high energy breeds such as Goldens, Labradors, Chesapeake Retrievers or other high energy breeds
- Someone who doesn’t work, works from home or works part time as I need high levels of exercise, mental stimulation, and positive reinforcement training. I’m used to my family being home with me and my furry siblings. I thrive in this environment because a tired dog is a good dog, and I need to be tired out daily.
- Positive reinforcement obedience training classes are REQUIRED – this will help us bond and build our relationship…and it’s so much fun! **AGN recommends dogsandkat.com
- MUST have an active dog companion comparable in size to play, run and wrestle with. I’d also be a great dog park dog.
- Older children would be great as I love kids, but they MUST be sturdy on their feet and dog experienced.
I’m not for a family who likes to just hang out at home and wants a dog to chill with them. I’m for the people who are truly “dog people”, which means most of your days revolve around your relationship with your dogs and doing fun things with them. So, if you’re looking for a high energy companion who’s sweet, silly, playful, adores affection with major potential…you won’t find a more fun, happy dog than me. I’m waiting for that special someone who’ll maximize my potential, wear me out each day with fun outdoor adventures, and offer me unconditional love and cuddles.
