Meet Bella
Hi, I’m Bella! I’m a 6- year- old Golden Retriever who is gorgeous inside and out. DOB: 1/15/18. I weigh approximately 66 pounds.
I was surrendered to AGN when my owner was moving out of state and could not take me with her. While I miss my original family, I have embraced the love, affection and companionship I’ve found in my foster home and now I’m ready to find my FOREVER family!
Attributes
Personality Traits
Happy, personable, sweet, smart, affectionate, “velcro-shadow” of a Golden. My foster mom says I’m the best foster pup she’s ever had, and easily the most beautiful! I’m a bright companion with such a unique and loving personality- smiling and my tail is always wagging. I crave love, attention, and affection and I love lots and lots of petting, though I will never beg you for it. My favorite activities are: being wherever my “people” are, patiently waiting for treats, car rides and carrying my stuffy toys around wherever I go.
Status with People
Social and friendly with everyone I meet! I love to sit with my foster dad while he’s working on his laptop. Otherwise, I usually follow my foster mom around step-for-step, and lie on the floor close to her feet. I’m happy just knowing where my special people are. Have not been around children, but I’m so happy and friendly, I’d likely love them as long as they are aware that my happy tail wags might accidentally bump into them.
Status with Dogs
Comfortable with other dogs. I have three foster siblings, two females and a dominant male, and I love to run and play with them in the yard. Not protective of my food or toys (no resource guarding). Neutral with other dogs I meet, I allow them to sniff me and am cool, calm, but not submissive.
Status with Cats
Cats unknown, but I do not chase creatures in the yard, so I’d likely be fine with them.
Favorite Toys
Becoming interested in stuffy toys! I carry them in my mouth and I like to have a toy by my side when I settle down at night–my foster mom says it’s absolutely adorable. I LOVE to retrieve balls. I’m respectful of my toys and am not a “toy shredder.” LOVE getting my treats in the morning, and sit patiently and wait for my turn.
Energy Level
Moderate energy gal, but show excitement when I’m playing ball or going on walks. Laid back and calm otherwise.
House Trained
Yes. I have a doggie door in my foster home and use it independently.
Crate Trained
Not needed, I have free roam of the house.
House Manners
Overall, I have good house manners. I occasionally counter surf when I smell delicious snacks but I am getting much better!
Leash Manners
Great on a leash!
Exercise
I enjoy exploring my foster family’s yard, retrieve balls and play with my foster siblings. I’m fairly low energy, but I love to retrieve balls as well as run and play with my foster siblings. Although I must say with this Tennessee heat, I much enjoy being in the cool air conditioned house 🙂
Car Rides
I love to ride in the car and I’m a fabulous passenger with great manners.
Basic Commands
I know how to “sit.” I know my name and it’s been my name since I was a young pup. It’s part of my identity. I wag my tail eagerly and come to you whenever my name is called. ** PLEASE DO NOT CHANGE MY NAME AS THIS WOULD SET ME BACK TREMENDOUSLY WITH MY TRANSITIONING TO A NEW HOME.
Storm Phobia
I am fine with the sound of rain, but thunderstorms and fireworks scare me. I begin panting and try to get in my foster parents’ bed. With comfort and cuddles, I am able to settle down and feel safe.
Things I need in my Forever Home
- Someone who is home most of the time. My foster parents are retired and I love having the companionship I’ve longed for. A non-working home, someone who works from home or works part time.
- Older children would be great as long as they are on the calm side, have appropriate manners with dogs and understand that I’m not one for a high energy playmate. I’ll let children love and pet me all day long, though.
- A low key home environment with a moderately active family who will take me on walks to the park or strolls through the neighborhood. Check the weather first and don’t walk me with pending storms or possible fireworks!
- Another nice and gentle dog would be great for me. I thrive with my furry foster siblings and enjoy their companionship. I’d likely do fine with a cat, too.
- A townhome or condo would likely be acceptable for me as long as I get daily walks and time to sniff and explore like I’m used to in my foster family’s large fenced-in yard. I’d do best in a quiet, low-key neighborhood.
- Someone who’s looking for the ultimate Golden companion to spend lots of time with.
If you can open your heart and home to a perfectly well-mannered, calm, sweet Golden who is ready to dedicate all her love to you…I’m your girl! I am a happy, affectionate, loving pup who is beautiful inside and out. I’m ready to be your best friend and ultimate companion if you’re ready for a lifetime of Golden love!
