Breed: Golden Retriever
Age: 2 years old
Gender: male
Weight: 79 lbs
Altered: Yes

Handsome and happy! Are you looking for an active, fun, mischievous, love bug to spend your days with? Hi, I'm Luke. I'm a 2 year old Golden who wants to be your BFF. My DOB is 11/28/16. I weigh 79 pounds.

I came to AGN because my family worked long hours and didn't have time to invest in the training and exercise that I need. I need someone with enough time and energy to commit to me as I'm an active young dog. Now I'm ready to start my life with my true forever family. So if you're ready for an energetic youngster to keep you on your on!

Personality Traits: I'm a sweetheart of a pup who is energetic and fun, but will settle down for snuggles on the couch with my humans. I like to put my head on foster mom's lap so she can pet me. Loving, crave affection, adore belly rubs and the typical Golden velcro shadow. Super smart with major potential if training is maximized. Social and friendly. Love to eat...who doesn't?

Status with People: I'm social with everyone. Like all people and children, but too much of a high energy pup for young children as I'm a big, active boy who likes to jump. I lived with children in my previous home, but they notated my jumping on the children in excitement.

Status with Dogs: I'm good with other dogs and love to play, run and wrestle. I have multiple furry foster siblings of both genders and differing ages. I have a neutral temperament and am a confident male.

Status with Cats: I'm overly interested in the cat at my foster home. I need a home without cats.

Favorite Toys:I LOVE toys, but I'm a 'stuffy toy murderer". Enjoy stuffy and squeaky toys, chew bones and balls to fetch. Because I'm a tough chewer, the Go Dog, Kong and Huggle Hound brands are recommended for me with supervision. When I first came to my foster home, I'd sometimes growl if another dog tried to get my toy, but I'm good at sharing now. I play tug with my furry foster sister.

Energy Level: I'm your typical energetic young Golden. Active and energetic outside with other dogs, but will settle down nicely when tired. Without enough exercise and playtime, my energy level will increase so LOTS of exercise and positive training is key for me.

House Trained: Yes

Crate Trained: Yes. Not the biggest fan of my crate, but will go in and settle down. Do best when a treat is tossed in or a Kong with peanut butter to entertain me. Although I was crated when I first came to my foster home, I'm now doing well being left out of my crate.

House Manners: Good for my young age, but will chew on paper or magazines that I have access to if I'm not tired enough when you leave. I don't bother anything else in the house and enjoy being with my furry foster siblings. At night, I sleep in the bedroom with my foster family and furry foster siblings. I'd be happiest sleeping in the bed with you :-) Want a bed buddy?

Leash Manners: I do well on my Walk Your Dog With Love harness and I'm always excited to go. I love my harness because it means "walk". I like having my leash and harness put on and I'll even try to put on my furry foster siblings :-) For such a young Golden, I'm really good on leash.

Exercise: I'm an active and energetic young Golden so must get significant daily exercise and playtime. Get LOTS of fun exercise walking/running each day and playing for hours with my furry foster siblings. Run and play in a very large fenced yard with my furry foster siblings while my foster dad hangs outside with us.

Car Rides: At first I needed help getting into the car because the car was new to me, but once in, I'm well behaved, and usually just find a comfy spot to lay! After a recent adventure to Tractor Supply, I jumped into the car all on my own...I’m so proud of myself!

Basic Commands: Sit, Leave It, No and Come. Working on Stay and Down (Lie Down). Eager to please and food motivated. Have major potential with formal positive reinforcement obedience training

Things I need in my forever home:
-Someone who wants a high energy young Golden and understands the exercise and positive reinforcement training commitment that comes with it
-Active family that likes to exercise daily by taking lots of power walks/runs, hikes, swimming and fun outdoor adventures. I'd be a good jogging partner.
- I need someone with enough time and energy to commit to me as I'm an active young dog who needs continued positive training, so someone needs to be home more often than not...someone who doesn't work, works from home or works part time (Remember...I was surrendered because my past family did not have enough time for me).
-TRAINING REQUIREMENT - Positive reinforcement obedience training classes REQUIRED - this will help us bond and build our relationship and it's so much fun.
-Highly preferable is another active dog that will run, wrestle and play with me as I love to play with other dogs. My dog companion should be neutral in temperament and not a dominant male.
-I would do fine as an only dog IF I have dog friends to run and play with on a regular basis and if you understand that my energy will increase if I'm an only dog. I'd need to go to the dog park regularly or doggie daycare a couple of days a week.
-Older children would be fine if they are sturdy on their feet and have experience with large, young dogs.

So if you're active, enjoy exercise and are looking for a great companion who's an energetic older pup and everything that comes with it, you won't find a sweeter more fun, happy dog than me. I'm waiting for that special someone who'll maximize my potential and offer me unconditional love....and lots of toys and balls to endlessly play with. I'm a lot of work and energy, but if you invest the time, exercise and training into me that I need, you will get a lifetime of an incredible Golden.

Luv, Luke
